Profile:
Kentaro Shiga pursued judo during his school days, and that sporting background helped him gain entry into All Japan. He debuted in February, 1994, and fans were quickly charmed by his underdog spirit. He struggled to gain weight, displaying a thin figure and finding it difficult to climb the ladder. After joining NOAH, he began to gain notability firstly as Jun Akiyama's young disciple, then as Kenta Kobashi's tag team partner. However, he was troubled by injuries, which often stalled his momentum. A popular technician, Shiga utilizes many ground-based moves, including arm submissions and his deadly Shiga sleeper. Shiga was kept out of wrestling for a two and a half year period as he nursed multiple injuries that he had sustained over his career, keeping him out from 1/26/03 until he made his return at the 9/18/05 Tokyo Nippon Budokan, having gained 20 pounds and looking to be a serious heavyweight threat.
