Profile:
An amaresu combatant during his school days in Saitama, Marufuji competed in inter-high school championships. He decided to become a professional wrestler, and joined All Japan, showing glimpses of future greatness early in his career with a high risk style. After the NOAH split, Marufuji truly broke out as a young junior heavyweight superstar, debuting a new costume, and becoming a spectacular high-flyer. He won great popularity, and became a leader of NOAH's upstart junior heavyweight division. One of NOAH's biggest hopes for the future, Marufuji will be counted on to help lead the company one day. Alongside KENTA, Marufuji captured the GHC Jr. Tag Championship belts in a tournament to crown the first champions during the month of July 2003. Marufuji followed up this success in sensational fashion when he became the 2004 Super J Cup champion, beating Takehiro Murahama in February 2004 for the honor. In September 2006, Naomichi Marufuji became the first (and so far only) wrestler to have won all 5 GHC titles in Pro Wrestling NOAH when he defeated Jun Akiyama to win the GHC Heavyweight Title. To date he is the youngest and lightest GHC Heavyweight Champion in history.
