Profile: Early in his All Japan career, Asako was part of the famous Super Generation Army with Mitsuharu Misawa, Toshiaki Kawada, and Kenta Kobashi. Throughout the years, he regularly put on good matches, but struggled to move up the card, winning no belts despite four challenges for the AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title. In 1999, he joined Takao Omori and Yoshihiro Takayama's upstart group of punks, Team No Fear, where he developed a new attitude. When Misawa split from All Japan in mid-2000, Asako, along with all but two of All Japan's native wrestlers, followed Misawa's cause. He remained a member of No Fear in NOAH, but during a match in November, 2001, he suffered a serious head injury. He strove for a half year recovery, but the injury didn't heal as expected, and on 6/12/02 at Tokyo Korakuen Hall, with tears in his eyes, Asako announced he would retire. On 7/26/02 at Yoyogi National Stadium Gymnasium #2, a sell out crowd of 4,500 turned up to see the Super Generation Army reform, Misawa, Kobashi & Asako defeating Akira Taue, Masao Inoue & Makoto Hashi in over 25 minutes, Asako ending an eleven year career with a victory, using his patented SDA (Super Driver Asako) to pin Hashi. Although he never won a title or moved high up the ladder, Asako was a very talented wrestler in all fields. He continues to work for NOAH as a ring doctor.
