    Graduating from the AJPW Dojo in 1999 before the infamous NOAH split, KENTA (formerly known by his real name, Kenta Kobayashi) debuted in the final tour before the All Japan/Pro Wrestling NOAH split, following Mitsuharu Misawa to be part of Pro Wrestling NOAH. After proving his worth in the tag team ranks by capturing the GHC Jr. Tag Team Title with Naomichi Marufuji in mid 2003, NOAH management decided to create a trial series for the young KENTA to face NOAH's top stars in singles competition to prove his singles acumen. Despite only gaining one win, it was crucial experience for KENTA, who looked to make a serious assault on the GHC Jr. Singles belt in 2005.

    1. (1/17/04 @ Tokyo Differ Ariake): KENTA beat Juventud Guerrerra (19:06) with a Busaiku knee kick.
    2. (3/13/04 @ Tokyo Differ Ariake) Yoshinari Ogawa beat KENTA (19:10) with a backdrop hold.
    3. (5/14/04 @ Tokyo Korakuen Hall) Jun Akiyama beat KENTA (14:06) with an exploder.
    4. (6/27/04 @ Tokyo Korakuen Hall) Yoshihiro Takayama beat KENTA (10:21) with a running kneelift.
    5. (8/28/04 @ Tokyo Differ Ariake) Mitsuharu Misawa beat KENTA (13:31) with an Emerald Frosion.
    6. (10/9/04 @ Tokyo Korakuen Hall) Kenta Kobashi beat KENTA (16:25) with a short lariat.
    7. (11/13/04 @ Tokyo Korakuen Hall) Naomichi Marufuji beat KENTA (22:23) with an avalanche Shiranui.
